The Synthetic Dream Foundation's newest album "Mechanical Serpent" is currently finished and being manufactured as you read this. The album is a stylistic continuation of the sound created during the last two albums, with a deft fusion of industrial, IDM, electronica, and orchestral music. The album features guest vocals by Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion and The Gathering), Summer Bowman (the machine in the garden), Susan Siren, and Tamara Kent. The album is being released by Mythical Records, and will be shipping on Feb. 18th 2010. The album is currently in pre-order from both TSDF's and Mythical Record's websites for the price of $10. As you have learned to expect from YogiBogeyBox events, we are not much for musical discrimination or preferring one style over another as they all have their magic. However, when it comes to classic Goa trance, there is one artist that stands out in our minds above the rest. We are in the clouds about having the legend, COSMOSIS, come to NYC with the unique trance only he produces. Along with RASTALIENS, the Swiss trance wizards, this promises to be an unforgettable night and perhaps our best event yet!

Bill Halsey, the producer behind Cosmosis and Mumbo-Jumbo, is a former professional session guitarist from London who has performed with countless bands, playing Rock, Funk, Jazz, Blues, Pop and Hip-Hip. He has toured throughout Europe, Australasia, and Asia. Bill honed his writing and recording skills while composing and recording pop tracks for over ten years before he began creating pure electronic music. Now he's as much in demand as a composer as he is for live appearances, sharing his particular brand of tongue-in-cheek, full power Psy-Trance on dancefloors across the globe. During the past 12 years, Bill has played Cosmosis' music to ecstatic crowds in such diverse locations as Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Israel, India, Bali, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Colombia, United States, Egypt, Switzerland, Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia, Denmark, England, Spain, Ireland, Canada, Serbia, Scotland, Belgium, Finland, Holland, Greece, South Africa, Russia, France, Mexico and Portugal, and continues to play regularly in many of these countries. We will be joined by Jay for a special NYC Rastaliens DJ set.
Rastalians are Jurgen Kassel and Ralph Knobloch.
Since about 13 years they are DJ´s. After 3 years with dj-ing, Jurgen and Ralph realised, that the records from other people were not enough for them. And look at this, since about 9 years they are producing their own psychedelic trance. Rastalians started in a small cellar with a little soundsystem. At the beginning project just used simple software-synthies and a small sequenzer-programm. Because of their limited possiblities, it was not easy for us to produce a good quality of sound…Hard work and a lot of enthusiasm caused a booking from some friends in Switzerland. They wanted a live-act. Rastalians’ first set, which was played with some quite old synthies, as like Roland 101 and Korg Trident. On a special day, Jurgen and Ralph decided to send our first songs to some differnt labels around the world. Wepacked this CD´s together with all our positive vibrations and what happend: Yaniv, from Hadshot Haheizar released our first two songs. “FREAK BOOSTER” and “UNIDENTIFIED SPECIES”. After playing on many parties around the globe, like Portugal, Netherland, Mexico, Greece, USA, UK,etc. there was time for an album which was released also on Hadshot and more should follow on Boom! PARUS is a psychedelic trance music project of twin brothers Mark and Valentin Tarasov that was born in the summer of 2000. This is their storyÖ While growing up in Riga, the capital city of Latvia, Valentin Tarasov was attending musical school, learning piano, Mark was learning guitar. After the break-up of the Soviet Union, they moved to California, where in 1996 together with their older brother Eugene they formed a Russian rock band called Still Night, with Valentin on the keyboard and Mark playing the bass guitar. Soon after, they were introduced to trance music and the idea of Parus was born. It began with turntables in a Palo Alto apartment, evolving into a semi-professional studio in the garage of their house. By September of 2000, they were writing their own tracks as project Parus took sail.Parus has performed on numerous stages in America, Portugal and Japan, including the amazing performances at the Boom Festival in Portugal, Burning Man Festival and the annual LoveFest in San Francisco. Chapel Hill / Carrboro NC Psytrance Startup

Heya All !!

So, I've been missing having monthly psytrance gatherings that I was blessed with in Philly. Over the summer I ran into some psyfolk at the Deerfields end-of-summer festival that live in my area, and we are planning on starting up the scene down here. My friend is full-on serious: he's bought the sound system and one of those monster black light jobbers. I've kinda taken over the deco, as its not really his thing.

Anyhoo.

I was wondering if ya'll have any input as to what you think is absolutely necessary to get a psytrance thing started up right. Perhaps this is a time to reflect on your first psytrance gathering... i know I'm about to -

So, my first gathering was at Ulana's. I remember I walked in with a jacket on, and I saw Keith there.. and I go "where should I put my coat?" he directs me to the corner. "Will it be all right there?" to which he responds "Sure. We're all cool here". And it was with such absolute assuredness and conviction that he said this... that I knew it to be true.

So, obviously- the main factor is the people. Thats well known.

But the thing that I find really important is the dedication to a manifested space. I remember walking into the main floor, with the black lights, the dancefloor of people, the music, and the decor. My god the decor. So, I'm trying to work on that. One of the things I'm trying to get ahold of is Vibrata Chromodoris's work (http://www.vibrata.com/prints/medicine.html). Can you imagine two of them, like 5 X 5, flanking the DJ?

But beyond the decor and the music, what else is integral? I'm hoping we can network with the TOUCH Samadhi folk for an initial boost to get us started... and there's rumor of a scene in Wilmington NC. And in my ideal world I'd fly you all down!!! :)

Would you say a chill area is absolutely essential? I definitely think so... I dunno if the place my friend got has multiple rooms though...

The good thing about the place is that we can party till 7 AM!!!!

Welp, any tips would be great. I think our go time is sometime in January. I think I'm gonna start a psytrance awareness campaign by the end of November - to see if there's any psytrance folk down here that would want to get in on the production / involvement side of things.

I just wanted to thank everyone who made "AnCiEnt FLoraL Data NEtwoRK Nectar", the party this Saturday night at Seed, such a fun time.

Big huge blossoms of gratitude to Gizem, Miguel and the whole crew at Seed, for welcoming us to party in their awesome space, without any politics, or strings attached. Just pure love and kindness from you friends. Without all your generosity, and hard work all through the night, the event couldn't have happened. Miguel is going to be a daddy sometime really soon, and we are so happy for you. You are going to be a great family!

Huge hugs and tickles to Ben (Hypnotoad / light-o-matic) for bringing the killer sound system and helping pull all the details together. Blissful sonic splinters as usual my friend.

Grains of Sounds, the hypnotic deep and grooving psy/chillout/ambient project from Baltimore are just crystallizing the last fragments together for their new upcoming TRIPLE CD album! The new album is to be distributed by world renowned psy/ ambient label Ultimae Records! Their sound has come such a long and awesome way. Chris, I am so proud of the work you guys are doing, and we were so blessed to have to contributing your morning sounds to the party. It was really the perfect moment of bliss to end on. Methinks we should all support Chris and his brother and buys copies when it's released; it covers a broad range of hypnotic trance and chillout and is going to be a real pleasure to listen to.

I wish I could have made it to GMSF, but money is a real issue for me. So, I'm left wondering... are there still parties happening in the Pines? Psybotik has left the playa but the playa surely hasn't left us. An incredible event in an extraordinary place made for one hell of a wild adventure! We'll be shaking off the dust all the way back to New York.

A big thanks to all the organizers, DPW, rangers and all the people that came and made it all possible. Also a special thanks to Phoenix Circle, Psytribe, Space Elevator, Moontribe and Want It for hosting our crew throughout the week.

Emiliano Solazzi Griminger (Moti Griminger) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and lived in Beer Sheva, Israel, most of his life. At the age of 18 he was already leading a very succesful Israeli death metal band called CEREBRAL COMA, where he played guitar and vocals, which had mayor success in the international and national underground scene. In 1992, Emiliano hooked up with Ziv Matushka, another pioneer in the Israeli electronic music scene and, together, they started to experiment with more Industrial music and eventually wrote Goa and Psy trance. Ziv joined P.Cok, and Emiliano continued his project as ENERTOPIA. The first single by Enertopia was released in 1996 by B.N.E Israel in a compilation called DESTINATION ISRAEL, and after a few months he was signed by KREMBO Records (Israel). The first full length album was called MAGIC FOR ETERNITY, released in 1997, followed by FACE ADAPTOR, co-written with Yuli Fershtat AKA B.L.T, Perfect Stranger. In between 1996 and 1998 Enertopia released two full albums and numerous singles. His Third album â€œDivineâ€ was released on September of 2008 on Geomagnetic.TV and it was received all over the world with great success. Nowadays, based in USA, Emiliano has founded â€œWarp Brain Recordsâ€, the first east-coast label of PsyTrance and Progressive trance.

share vending space at gaian mind ??

I know its early but I'm trying to make some plans to get to the fest this year to potentially vend clothing again. My name is jason, I sold clothing last year at gaian mind and had such a great time dancing in the forest with alloveyou beautiful people! I can't afford to make the drive from austin this year but i still want to come out and bring some of my wares to share with the community. I found a good price on a flight and now I'm trying to coordinate the rest of the details for arrival and vending. If anyone knows of another vendor or two who would like to share a space, please contact me. I have a 10X 15 tent I used last year at the event, but will have way less clothing with me since i will be flying out. I'm trying to coordinate a ride from the airport for me and 3 fifty pound bags of clothing if possible. I can help out with gas money for sure and make it worth your time. As of april 22nd i have not purchased my plane ticket yet so i could potentially fly in to Baltimore or Philadelphia. i need to get one soon though. Pete Bones "Red Ant Recordings" Biography
With more than 15 years as a DJ and producer, Pete Bones is something of an underground legend. He could sit back and earn gigs on the strength of his reputation alone. But that's not Pete's style. He knows what he wants, and he's good enough at what he does to make it happen. And that's why Pete Bones is always one step ahead of the rest of the scene.

Pete started his musical background after being expelled from school aged 15. With way too much time on his hands, he started a band with 2 close friends. Pete taught himself guitar and drums, and by the age of 17 the boys were ready to start gigging. They had played 2 London gigs when in 1988, when after a trip to Ibiza, and the first whisperings of ecstasy and acid house, he decided that electronic music was his future, and traded his drum kit for a pair of technics turntables.

The first half of Pete's career is a lesson in success. After playing numerous illegal parties around the South East of England he gained his first residency in 1990 at the Hand & Spear in Surrey, and soon turned it into one of the biggest nights in the whole of the UK. Pete's DJ career took off quickly and it wasn't long before he was guesting all over Europe. Pete had bigger plans though, and in '92 he launched Ugly Bug records. It was an instant hit, especially with big hitting radio dj's Pete Tong and Judge Jules. Pete became a resident guest on Kiss 100fm, and his first release as his main recording alias, The Shaker, - 'Just Lick It', became the club hit of the year. The remix work came flooding in, from labels such as London, FFRR, Hooj, Ore, Fade, and Perfecto. His remix of Zee's Dreamtime was essential new tune on Pete Tong's BBC Radio1 show, and finally in 95 Pete signed to XL recordings, after a 3 way struggle between A&M, XL, and Maifesto to secure his signature.

He went on to release 3 more singles under the Shaker guise – 'Mooncat', 'Strong to Survive' and 'Star' which were all massive club anthems around the world. His djing skills started to attract the talents of promoters as far afield as Capetown and Durban in S.Africa, as well as New York, L.A. and Denver in the USA. For most, this would have been the peak of an outstanding career, but Pete was after something a bit more substantial. Despite the massive chart success, Pete reinvented his sound and launched a new label: Red Ant Records. "Having a hit track is great and all, but I was really more concerned about the underground," says Pete. "Red Ant was a way for me to get back to what I wanted to do, which was make tough, techy tracks with a lot of energy.

Patrice "le Tawateur" or DJ Yayo
started the first trance parties in France in 1988, he was the first dj ever playing this new kind of music, and organized over 70 parties.

His DJ skills made him travel every continents, but the frozeen ones....from Canada, Japan, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, the Caribbean's, Asia, Goa, Bali and Thailand where in the beginning 90's he started the infamous Koh Phan Gan parties, and of course all of Europe and France, where he was a resident DJ at the Gibus club and the "Trans It" nights at the Rex club.

Pixel is Eli Biton Tal
born 1979, living in the center of Israel. Eli discovered psychedelic trance music in 1997, after a few years of listening to different genres of electronic music such as techno, trip hop and breakbeat.

His favorite bands are: Depeche mode, KLF, Eat Static, Massive attack, Pink Floyd and Radiohead.

He started DJing in 1999 and began creating his own music in 2000. The whole thing happened very slowly, as he was taking it all step by step. In 2001 Pixel started to DJ back to back with Domestic, a successful collaboration which lasted 2.5 years. During this time, they made music together as Dual Head, compiled a very successful compilation- Think Sync- for Com.pact and toured the world extensively, playing in Japan, Brazil, England, Mexico, Germany and more. Eli says he owes the biggest thanks to Domestic, for teaching him how to make music from scratch. Even today he is still learning from him.

His debut album- Reality Strikes Back- is due to be released later this year, in Hommega. He defines it as "all in one", a combination of everything from dark night music, minimal progressive and full power dancefloor stuff.

Eli doesn't use any external hardware to make his music. He claims that with today's advanced sound software technology, it doesn't matter what equipment you have, it matters how you use it. Therefore, he only uses the computer, soundcard, a pair of monitors and a good acoustic room.

I had a chance to experience 4 Quarters last year at Drum N Splash where I heard about Gaian Mind. I wish I knew about it before it happened so I could have made it out last year!

When will information for Gaian Mind 09 go public?

How many people attend Gaian Mind?

Is fire dancing legit? It was at Drum N Splash, but every festival is different.

UNWASHED TOMATO (Unwashed Records / D-A-R-K Records, Philadelphia)

In the year 2025, earth sucks, hard. All the freaks have fled to the moon, leaving behind the masses of TV obsessed "suits and dildos". The Lunar Lounge, run by the infamous Doctor Randall, is an anarchic respite from the drudgery of earth. One day, while Andy, Dave and Rod were sitting around enjoying some molecularly enhanced water with Doctor Randall, the the earth completed the process of recycling itself by turning inside out. The final moment of this transformation caused a freak electromagnetic disruption which caused The Lunar Lounge and all inside, to be vomited into a time portal which carried them to earth at the turn of the 21st century. When they arrived, Andy, Dave and Rod realized that they had been transformed into dirty tomatoes. Strangely, no one else noticed. Andy and Dave had been transported a small dark room in which they started to channel their energy into psychedelic vibrations intended for the night hours. Rod was transported to the advance screening of AVPR, which he promptly walked out of before the previews finished. Then he made some bad ass music, and made a lot of people's heads feel funny.

The three reunited in the city of Philadelphia, PA in the summer of 2008. They remembered their experience in The Lunar Lounge with Doctor Randall, and decided to join forces to produce something. They are not sure quite what it is, but it sounds kinda like darkpsy and some other stuff. Ranging from deep and groovy, to dark and twisted, to fast and driving, their psychedelic sounds will transport you... somewhere!
Watch out for the three-way collaboration between Andy "The Andy" Aylward (The Andychrist), David "Thirsty Turtle" Mostoller (800 Deathsticks / Kabayun) and Rod "Sneakey Cactus" O'Connor (Sixtycycles) as they prepare your brains for the impending terrestrial inversion!

Mysterious Sickness

I was EXTREMELY sick for 12 hours straight on Saturday night into Sunday morning. I thought that it was food poisoning or jaria. A lot of people were sick. Right now I am still having problems processing food. The four quarters crew need to make sure that the food and water is safe. I thought that I was going to end up in the hospital. I heard of at least 8 other people extremely sick. This is unacceptable. We pay a lot of money to have a great vacation. I ended up spending my last night of vacation puking. If any of you got sick, what do you think it was? I'm trying my best to pinpoint a cause. Don't get me wrong, I had an awesome time prior to getting sick.

i had a great time overall...minor brush with the sickness on my drive home but i got by with just a minor fever which has subsided after a good night's rest. gaian mind is always one of the highlights of my summer and this year was no exception - it is always wonderful to gather again with so many of the familiar faces who come back every year and the new friends they bring with them

this year was unique for me in that i managed to bring some of my festival experience back home to post online - pictures are on flickr:

Did anyone else happen to see a UFO during the fest? I just now remembered seeing it and was curious to know if it was REALLY there or I was seeing things. I remembered seeing it really high above the stone circle with psychedelic lights flashing.

If you are still feeling ill, please please please do us ALL a favor.

Go get tested.

Please. Get thee to a medical establishment, clinic, doctor, urgent care facility, whatever. Donate a stool sample to science, so that the investigators who are trying to track this down can have some data to go on.

For those who were sickened at Wickerman and Fires Rising, it's too late to get any good culture results. Those of you who got hit at Gaian Mind are still possibly able to obtain test results that will offer information about what is making so many many people very ill.

Beyond helping figure this out for all of us who were sickened, please be conscious that Drum and Splash is coming up, and a whole new group of innocent and perhaps unsuspecting people are even now plotting their travel plans to go to 4QF. Please for their sake, get tested.

Today I spoke with the very friendly nurse Debbie with the State of PA Board of Health. She informed me that three state agencies are collaborating on the investigation. What they really need -- to do anything -- is hard medical data.

If you are still ill and cannot afford the process of being tested, please speak up. May our community take up a collection on your behalf or help you locate a free clinic where the test can be done.
